Knoxville Man Sentenced To Nine Years For Possessing Child Pornography

In May 2015, Investigators with the Knoxville Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received information about child pornography on a suspects mobile device.

ICAC Investigators quickly located the suspect in question and after a forensic examination of his mobile device revealed over 800 images of child pornography.

A Knox County Grand Jury returned a true bill in the case against the suspect, Norman Padgett, in late 2015. Padgett was then immediately arrested by ICAC Investigators for Sexual Exploitation of a Minor and was held at the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility on a $300,000 bond.

Today, April 30, 2019, the Knox County District Attorney General’s Office Child Abuse Unit successfully obtained a guilty plea from Padgett for two (2) counts of Attempted Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, both Class C Felonies.

The Honorable Judge Bob McGhee sentenced Padgett to a nine-year sentence. Padgett will also be required to register as a sex offender with the State of Tennessee. Padgett has remained in custody at the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility since his initial arrest in August 2015.
