On July 7, 2015, Knoxville Police Department West District Patrol Officers arrested Chancey Craig Lawson on charges including Aggravated Assault, Kidnapping, Statutory Rape, Felony Theft, and Driving on a Suspended License. The juvenile victim in the case indicated that Lawson had captured images of her on his cell phone.
On November 10, 2015, a Knox County Grand Jury returned a true bill charging Lawson with Especially Aggravated Sexual Exploitation of a Minor (Class B Felony), after an investigation by the Knoxville Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
On November 13, 2015, Lawson was arrested on the new charge and is currently being held on $50,000 bond at the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility.
